With the impending closing to Toronto’s landmark Dragon Lady Comics & Paper Nostalgia after 33 years in business, a group of interested individuals conceived a plan to keep a part of Dragon Lady alive on College Street and vital to the comics community.
The initial plan was conceived by Joe Shuster Awards Executive Director Kevin A. Boyd, who approached Sean Menard, the director of the Toronto Cartoonists Workshop about using a large part of the existing space reserved for the TCW and turning it into a comics shop, lounge area and art gallery devoted to comics and comics art.
Dragon Lady manager Joe Kilmartin was approached about continuing his existing role as store manager at the new location, and continuing to provide his existing customers who order new comics and graphic novels with the opportunity to continue ordering from him with confidence.
We are committed to providing excellent service, and a hassle-free environment for aficionados of every age and gender. We are building a unique shopping environment that is both store and community space – with our neighbours the TCW and Guerilla Printing, The Comic Book Lounge & Gallery is your one stop source for comics, graphic novels and original art.
Welcome to the neighbourhood!
