An Engaging Enlistment of Effortlessly Entertaining Entries to Excite and Entice you on April 25th, 2012 – here at The Comic Book Lounge

This week is an abundance of long awaited firsts and lasts – Popeye’s first appearance in a new Elzie Segar-styled release in possibly about 70 some years, JMS & Chris Weston’s five-years-in-the-releasing mini-series THE TWELVE finally sees it’s final issue, Jonah Hex starts off a Batman storyline for the first time in our memory in ALL STAR WESTERN, and the amazing AMANDA CONNER is featured for the first time in a nice high-end art book examining her career.  Get ’em all come April 25th at THE COMIC BOOK LOUNGE AND GALLERY!

A Calamitous Continuance of Cosmically Creative Comics Creeping into our Collective Consciences!

The book that more or less is firing off the summer like a starter’s pistol is in the shop as of Noon Wednesday, April 4th – AVENGERS VERSUS X-MEN #1, but we also have fun selections like the second printing of ADVENTURE TIME #2, our own foray into Role Playing Game stock with the MARVEL HEROIC RPG, HULK #50, SWEET TOOTH #32, the eternally entertaining WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #8, and finally – FINALLY! – Joe can read FLEX MENTALLO (well, he could have illegally earlier but it always made him feel guilty to think about it…).  Nope – all in all a GREAT week for comics!

No BATMAN love on television, but apparently we’re getting a GREEN ARROW pilot intended for prime time…

…which is not, in and of itself, a bad thing at all. GA was always treated a something of a Batman knock-off in his earliest appearances,and was definitely treated as a surrogate Batman in his appearances on SMALLVILLE. BATMAN is as hot as ever but the WB seems to be a little shy in allowing Bruce Wayne et al to grace our presences on the home version of the wide-screen.

Coming soon? GREEN ARROW on the small screen. Hopefully with a little more reverence for the core concepts than David E. Kelley managed to muster for WONDER WOMAN.

Interviews with Lauren Faust & Lynell Forestall on their DC NATION animated shorts, with a surprising admission that they’ve been allowed to be entertaining   HUMOUROUS where a lot of the source material isn’t anymore.  I, for one, would love to see a full 10  minute Blaxsploitation-styled Black Lightning cartoon…  Also freeze-frame to see Lauren’s designs for Commissioner Gordon and Bizarro while she’s chatting with the host.
