CGC

Please note: January 30, 2013. Because of the high volume of books submitted by Lounge customers in Fall 2012, we are currently not taking any new submissions until we get the majority of the backlog returned to customers. Hopefully we will be back on track by March.

Founded in 2000, CGC is the first independent, impartial, third-party comic book grading service. A proven and respected commitment to integrity, accuracy, consistency and impartiality has made CGC the leader in its field. In fact, in 2007, CGC crossed the million-book mark and has now graded nearly 1.5 million comic books.

Because we value our relationship with collectors who share our passion for comics, the hobby’s vibrant history and its exciting future, we offer membership in the CGC Collectors Society. Paid membership starts at $39 per year, and includes direct submission privileges, access to expert tools and resources like the Comics Registry, and dynamic interaction with fellow collectors.

The Comic Book Lounge + Gallery will be working with CGC to make the store a submission centre for collectors in the downtown core who wish to get their comics graded, and we will host a number of Signature Series signings and events throughout the year and at other events both locally, nationally and internationally. Provided the creators consent in advance and CGC approves the signing, we will announce any SS signings and sketch opportunities on the Signature Series Forum and here on the website.

Currently, The Comic Book Lounge has received approval to accept Signature Series submissions for upcoming Toronto comics related events – please contact kevin@comicbooklounge.com directly for details.

Kevin Boyd has been working with CGC since 2001. At first, he assisted in the development of the Signature Series program and was the company’s first Director of Signature Series – traveling to shows across North America  for the company between 2005 and early 2010, assisting customers in obtaining autographs for their collectibles. In 2010, an increased workload at his day job led to Boyd stepping down from the position, although he has continued to assist the company at some events such as C2E2 and the New York Comic Con.

Since 2006, Kevin Boyd has been an Overstreet Price Guide Adviser, and his market reports have appeared in several editions of the annual Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide.
